Christmas gifts in Switzerland

Christmas gifts
for men.

Ideas by budget, what to avoid under the tree, and how late you can order.

✔ From CHF 39.90✔ Wrapped, ready to give✔ Also at the last minute

At Christmas, the gifts that work best for men are those that get used up, create an experience or meet a need they neglect themselves. Avoid decorative objects, gadgets and anything that takes up space. Allow between CHF 40 and CHF 100 for a main gift, and plan to order before mid-December if the gift needs to be delivered.

What works under the tree

Ranked by effect, not by product category.

A subscription

The gift does not stop on 25 December: it comes back every month for three, six or twelve months. What matters is that it then ends on its own.

Suits: the man who buys everything for himself

A gift box to open

The moment of opening counts as much as the contents. A rigid gift box with a handwritten card makes more of an impression than an envelope.

Suits: the man who opens his gifts with the family

A voucher for an experience

Flying, driving, tasting, massage. Planned for the spring, it extends the effect of Christmas.

Suits: the man who has enough things

Something that gets used up

Wine, whisky, speciality coffee, chocolate. It does not pile up and raises no storage questions.

Suits: the man who doesn't like bulky gifts

Time together

A concert, a match, a weekend. The gift is the date, not the object.

Suits: a partner, a father, a brother

What ends up at the back of the cupboard

Not through bad taste, but through a poor fit.

  • Decorative objects: they take up space without being chosen by the person
  • Fun gadgets: the effect lasts one evening
  • Clothes in the right size but the wrong taste: almost impossible to guess
  • Devices he would have bought himself if he wanted one
  • Vouchers with no clear expiry date: they get lost before they are used

The deadlines to know

Every year, Swiss Post publishes a last posting date before Christmas, usually around mid-December.

  • Gift to be delivered: order about ten days before Christmas at the latest, as the week before the holidays is the busiest of the year
  • Gift in a gift box: allow the same time, the parcel is sent wrapped
  • You are leaving it late: a printable voucher is available straight away, free of charge and with no delivery time
  • You still want something to hand over: print the voucher and slip it into an envelope or a box you already have

A subscription that lasts beyond Christmas

Three plans, three terms, no automatic renewal.
